Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 5, 2019

The office really sucks for Callie, it’s a never ending source of blandness that she wishes would go away. The arrival of Ara changes so many things for her. Becoming a succubus spider woman wasn’t exactly what she had in mind though.

The work is a short erotic hot flash with a lesbian theme, a bit of a transformation aspect, and a little bit of mind control and succubus attraction mixed in. The story, for the most part, is a fun read, the main characters meet and become entangled and that was a lot of fun. The transformation is a bit shaded overall, but the aftermath makes up for much of that.

Ara, the spider succubus of the work, isn’t evil, she’s trapped in her nature and Callie was the best option she had. That’s a bit surprising, but makes sense in the story’s setting. She’s not quite a succubus, it’s part of her, as is her spider nature, and the two combined seems like a really good match. But there’s really very little told about her nature, or really about her powers, though it’s obvious that she is using her powers, just as Callie does when her newfound nature comes into focus.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work seems like it is so dearly incomplete. How it ends feels strange, a bit lost, and honestly leaves the characters hanging on the edge of answering a lot of questions, but they just don’t. It’s a shame because the entire idea is really interesting and this could have been turned into something more elaborate by far. It’s a shame it wasn’t.
