Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 16, 2022

An ordinary day turns into a nightmare of abduction and struggle against a domineering will. What does it take to fall to temptation, lust and submission? How long can one remain themselves when they are confronted by powers beyond their understanding. What is the point when giving in leads to the eternity that was never desired before, but now is all consuming?

The work is a mix of submission and domination that has an undercurrent of seduction to tug the story towards its climax. There is also a very strong BDSM theme that runs throughout and overall that is what the story centres upon. The erotica has heat, the characters are very strongly written and there’s a lot throughout to tease one into getting to the end of the story where the final reveal appears.

The main character is never given a name, this being the author’s decision to place the reader in their position. I think that works well for those that have a submissive nature or enjoy that viewpoint. From a more dominant personality, it’s a bit off putting as a whole which is where the other character of the work comes into play.

A woman in red, a domineering personality, and a sexual need that never subsides. While not fully revealed as to who she is till the end, the story clearly hints that this is Lilith, or an aspect of her, throughout. She’s very domineering, there are hints of mind control that work really well to trap her prey. Eventually she is revealed as a succubus and at that point all of the odd things that happen make sense. Beyond that, the teases of knowledge she offers throughout, when she’s not seducing the main character, added a depth to her that I quite enjoyed.

This is, however, a very strongly dominant story which places the telling of what happens to the fall of the main character. There is a struggle, there is anger, fear and frustration. But there’s also moments when the capitulation to Lilith leads to some surprisingly tender moments. It might be a mirage considering how things end, but the heat really makes up for the story as a whole.

Four out of five pitchforks.

Given the ending, and the glimpses of the world beyond the room the two characters reside, I think a follow on work, possibly with the main character a lover/servant of Lilith would be interesting. Perhaps there’s something beyond that door that could turn the story towards something larger. It al least would be telling a story of what comes next, which would be a delightful read.
