Plot Summary

Fish With Teeth follows a total of five stories spanning over many different periods of time, many different settings and follows many different characters. Read Icarus, a story following an astronaut drifting towards his ever impending doom flying too close to the sun or Succubus, a story following a rogue German soldier during the events of WWII left to rummage through scattered ruins before encountering a mythological beast sent to protect a portal to hell. Phoenix brings out Callum Vix, a thought-to-be 'ordinary' man discovered to be a mutant, and although attempted to use his powers for good was left targeted by the government for being deemed a threat to humanity. Or possibly Replicas, a story about a young man beginning to question the morals and truth behind his utopian city, Eden, and the practices used upon their community. But don't forget Spectacle, a story about a young girl who accidentally encounters a mystical species during a venture for her school photography project.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 28, 2025

The short story Succubus tells the tale of a solider finding themselves encountering a succubus, they being drawn into her clutches and the struggle between them before the story resolves with something of a to be continued feel to it. Written in lines of no more than four words, it’s more description of events and emotions which move towards the revelation of what the succubus is and what she represents.

The succubus of the work, Joyce, is somewhere between temptation and demonic power. The shift is a bit shaded, the fate she represents is held to the last and when resolved, brings the two characters of the wark to a battle and the result is rather unexpected.

Four out of five pitchforks.

It’s a really fascinating idea that I think needs to be explored further. The scene is set, the plot is there, and taking this towards something deeper and more involved I think could turn out to be amazing.

For the work as a whole, three and a half pitchforks out of five.

It’s varied, interesting and offers a lot of themes and ideas. The story telling is very good and at the end of each you are left wondering about what came before. Much like the succubus story, it feels sometimes like these works are summaries or teases of larger works and perhaps the author will do so.
