Plot Summary

A holy vow. A hellish temptation. One night in the dark changes everything.

Sister Hannah Cartwright has survived twenty-five years of absolute obedience—locked in the freezing vaults beneath St. Jude Monastery, guarding the Church’s forbidden grimoires behind silver wards that are supposed to keep demons out.

Then Vesper—starved, lethal, and desperate—breaks into the archives for the Liber Eclipsis, a book that could sever her binding to Hell forever. She expects a monk. She finds Hannah.

Worse: the wards were built to protect men—and they don’t stop a woman from wanting a female demon.

To keep the sleeping monks alive, Hannah makes a bargain she can’t take back: she’ll break a holy seal and help Vesper read the text—one midnight at a time. In the dark, debates turn into temptation, and temptation turns into something Hannah has never allowed herself to name.

But the Inquisition is closing in, and Vesper’s masters are tightening the tether. Hannah can crawl back to the light and beg to be forgiven… or burn the rules to the ground, choose the monster who chose her, and run.
