Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 10, 2025
The best time of the year for a succubus to indulge her nature is Halloween and Ethel would never think to miss one. But she’s looking for something different and if she’s lucky then Jess will be the perfect snack.
The work is very short, what I have called a pamphlet in the past. It’s a bit short of a hot flash work of erotica, having much of the story being Ethel’s search before finding Jess. It works, overall, to set the stage, but with that said, it felt like there’s something missing along the way. Call it a piece of the puzzle that is Ethel and wondering about her.
Ethel, the succubus of the work, really never appears as a succubus. She mentions her true form, more or less, in passing, but otherwise she’s just a very sexy woman looking for a hookup on Halloween. Similarly there’s very little of her powers as a succubus explored and I really wish they had been. A little mind control, a bit of casting of power over Jess, even a teeny bit of soul sucking would have added that missing part of the story, at least for me.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
While Ethel is a succubus, she really isn’t that much of one in the story. It’s more apt to say this was a lesbian Halloween story with a succubus character along for the ride. It’s a shame really as a bit more emphasis on the succubus aspects of Ethel would have been nice, it might have added a bit more heat to things if a bit of tail and horns appeared as well.
