Plot Summary

Astrid has a need and a wish, Ravish has his own secrets and tries to avoid them. But both are trapped in a maze not of their making and the powers around them have their own plots waiting to tear then bith part at the seams.
Set in a story universe of a sexual magic college, this work focuses on a student, Astrid, and a professor who is an incubus, Ravish. The two characters know of their own needs and passions, but both resist and play around the edges of what would bring them to what would save them both and are lost within the world they are forced to exist within.
It’s a bit silly and over the top at points, dearly dark and foreboding at others. The characters are interesting, their voices are strong and their personalities are well told. At the same time, there are points which are so dearly over the top and silly that they took me out of the story and it took one of the major events and scenes to draw me fully back to the story. The story is lovely with passion, erotic heat, a scattering of dominance and submission as well. But there are oddities that just gave me pause as well.
The scenes between the main characters, Astrid and Ravish, are dripping with lust, need, passion and unbridled ecstasy. If the entire work had focused on that alone it would be dearly captivating. Add in quite a number of conflicts, a choice made that really puts the story on edge, and a group of supporting characters that add a bit of mischief and it is a lot of fun. but at the same time there is a lot of darkness and it is an interesting mix.
Ravish, the main incubus of the work, is as complicated as I thought he would be. The darkness within him, the want to do the tight thing in spite of his nature, the forces demanding of him, is a knife that twists itself into I’m throughout. Then comes the fleeting moments with Astrid, the truth they cannot escape, but he tries to protect hr from. He’s complicated, the story more so with what happens around him and, hopefully, the story going forwards will avoid a turn towards the expected and perhaps take him to be more than what everyone thinks of him.

The work comes to a close with conflict, disaster and the sense of impending doom that sort of was telegraphed from the first page. With that said, and with the understanding that I have not read the preceding parts of the series, some of this story was so dearly appealing and so much of it was so far over the top. But that seems to be how this universe is set up and so it can’t be avoided. I can see for the most part where things are headed, and I dearly hope the author can avoid this becoming stereotypical in tone to get there.
