Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 22, 2018

Samantha is a therapist who finds herself with an incubus and a succubus that are facing the most frighting thing of all, being in love. But that’s the story of the headaches and what comes next just adds to everyone’s problems.

The work is a fantasy mystery adventure set in a modern setting which brings in quite a number of myths and legends around the main character and the challenges that brings to all. It’s not erotica, though there is a succubus and an incubus in love, which is a delight to see unfold. At the same time there is an undercurrent of darkness and foreboding that comes into play which takes a long time to untangle itself and that works well.

The succubus and incubus characters are something of a young adult story in themeless, they aren’t evil, though there are some moments where things get a little out of hand. With that said, they aren’t really what one might expect either pf them to be, though the inherent dangers they represent are mentioned and seen a few times. They are interesting and with the appearance of Lilith, who is, again, nothing like one might expect, it’s very much all unexpected.

Three out of five pitchforks.

It’s a complicated and interesting set of stories overall. I would have really liked to know more about Lilith, develop the succubi and incubi mythos more than it was overall. As that wasn’t really the point of the work, it wasn’t, but still there are so many interesting questions to wonder about regardless.
