Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 18, 2025
A book is found and to everyone’s surprise it summons the succubus Tikka who is up for anything. It’s that question of anything that makes her summoner wonder and they’ll find out what really is possible.
The work is very short, what I refer to as being a pamphlet in length. Beyond that the way the work is written, it’s something between a script and a screenplay for an adult movie with all of the depth one might expect. There’s really no character development, the focus is on the sex scenes and otherwise what remains is not that interesting overall.
The erotica reads very flat, there’s no heat really beyond that of a middling porn movie. That’s a shame really as while this is a script of an idea, it could have been developed a little more. There’s a few points where it could have become something a bit more, but the author didn’t explore and turned instead to the adult movie theme.
Tikka, the succubus of the work, is somewhere between a porn star and a succubus in her personality. She’s not evil by any means, though she is focused on sex over all else. Her description is cute, there are horns and a tail as well. Her personality is interesting as well, if again a bit too focused on one thing. What is a shame is that the work is so short that there’s not a lot done with her as a character other than the erotica and it could have been a lot more.
The largest problem is the seeming lack of editing, or spelling, or making the dialogue read better, or spend more time describing the scene or… well., there’s a lot that could be done to make this better and really should be. I’d be inclined to take the idea here and turn it into a story and give this the depth and character development that it really needed.
One pitchfork out of five.
It’s a shame this was such a poor read given the promise it holds. Perhaps the author will try again and take a chance at making a story and not the word salad this turned out to be.
