Plot Summary

Damon and Kat are stumbling through existence, bored and unfulfilled. There’s something missing. Is it excitement? Joy? Companionship? Love? When they meet, they’re irresistibly drawn to each other, but still wary. How can you trust someone when they want to feed on you? Even so, both become lost in the intense erotic pleasure they share. Are they a perfectly matched pair, each providing what the other needs, or antagonists caught in a death spiral?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 12, 2020

The long life given to the incubi and succubi comes with certain pitfalls, the largest of them being the battle with boredom and loneliness. As for vampires, the problem is the same, if not more so for the battle they have with their nature. When Damon and Kat meet, the spark fly, the passions erupt, and then everything goes sideways when what they expect to happen never does. What happens when two dominant natures cross paths and they never want to be apart, but their own natures tug on them relentlessly.

The work is an exceptionally well written story of discovery, passion, understanding, emotional conflict, and the binding of two souls in their need for each other. Captivating from the first page, the characters are amazing, the story holds you, and there’s so much texture to everything to enjoy. It’s somewhere between a romance and erotica with quite a lot of character development to tie everything together.

Damon, the main character is an incubus, Kat, the other main character is a vampire and they are, very much, made for each other. It’s not a simple story, there’s a lot for them each to overcome and deal with, but that struggle makes everything so much more real and gripping throughout.

As for Damon, and for that matter, Lilith, his succubus cousin, they are very much dominants, the air of underlying power among a modern world works well for them. There’s no overt signs of them being incubi or succubi in nature, unlike Kat’s vampire nature, but even so there’s hints of their power along the way which are very hot and I liked that quite a lot.

But this is really a story of two dominants trying to come to terms with each other, their need for each other, and dealing with their own natures. That struggle carries to the climax and close of the work, but it matters and every moment is one that holds them both.

Four out of five pitchforks.

The story and characters just feel right from beginning to end and it’s an engrossing tale. I wish that there would have been more told about the succubi and incubi, as well as vampires, in this universe. Perhaps that will happen sometime, it would be delightful. An amazing piece of writing and well worth a read by far.
