Plot Summary
It’s almost Valentine’s Day, so love should be in the air, right? Except it’s not—by a long-shot. My sasquatch boyfriend, Roy, and I have been doing nothing but arguing and I’m not sure how our relationship is going to survive… Things haven’t been exactly hunky-dory, but they’re about to get a whole lot worse when Fifi Stenham, a succubus demoness, barges into my store, declaring she needs my help.
Fifi’s family, led by her incubus brother, Angelo, are trying to kidnap her, wanting to ensure she fulfills the succubus credo—seduce and reduce—aka seduce men and reduce their energy by siphoning it from them. Fifi, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with her succubus nature and wants to divorce herself from it permanently—so she’s finally able to find true love. When Fifi is doused with a magical potion that quadruples her sensuality, all the citizens of Haven Hollow lose their minds and it becomes a mad dash to whisk Fifi off to safety, safety being Roy’s sasquatch foothold, located deep in the mountains. It’s a trip I won’t easily forget as relationships and friendships are tested, as well as the bonds between mother and son.
And what I learn from the resident witch will change the course of my life…

Poppy just wants to figure out her relationships and figure out her life in Haven Hollow. But the local succubus Fifi needs her help to overcome the nature of being a succubus. Is it possible to take away what it means to be a succubus, or is that dream slowly becoming a nightmare?
The story is delightfully fun overall, the characters are well rounded and the emotional moments read very true. Poppy, the main character, is interesting, following everything that is swirling around her is complicated, but also offers a lot of story to branch from. The succubus of the work, Fifi, is really unique, I enjoyed her trying to explain everything that was wrong, why she wanted to be rid of the part of her that is succubus. The telling of her story at the beginning is emotionally draining and felt really well done.
Fifi isn’t a typical succubus, which makes her endearing. Her family, and her incubus brother Angelo are, however, seemingly very stereotypical for the most part and that was a bit disappointing. The family conflict is spoken of, but isn’t as present as the struggle between brother and sister, which it needs to be for the sake of the story. There isn’t much seen in Fifi using her powers, or feeding for that matter, and honestly that’s a good thing for this story. Adding erotica to this in an over the top way wouldn’t have worked well and I think it would have hurt Fifi as a character.
Well written, lovely characters with their own needs and frustrations. There’s a lot of good here and being that it is the third work in the series, that is expected. Overall a good read if for a few little wishes and nitpicks. The main one being that while Fifi is central to the book, she’s not as present as I think she should have been. Nonetheless what we see of Fifi is delightful, fun and quite telling about her.

I’d have really liked Fifi to be more involved in the story than she is. I’d also have really liked for her family, when they appeared, to be more fleshed out and present as well. But she’s really a secondary character, the series isn’t about her. Still, it’s her need, to try and be other than she is that really appealed to me.
