Plot Summary

In the sun-drenched coastal town of Marisole, Arielle, a young adventurer with a zest for discovery, stumbles upon a relic that promises more than just ornamental value—the Chianca, a cursed amulet with a tale as old as time. As the amulet's seductive power begins to seep into her, Arielle is pulled into a whirlwind of passion, peril, and ancient rituals. But the Chianca harbors a dark secret, one that transforms her into a creature of legend—a malignant creature.

Amidst the backdrop of Marisole's mysteries, Arielle's transformation becomes a race against time, as those close to her—Dimitri, the enigmatic stranger with a past intertwined with the amulet, and Liliana, a local with deep knowledge of ancient rites—struggle to save her from the amulet's dark grasp.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 18, 2024

Not everything is as it seems in Marisole, not everyone is who they appear to be, and the trinket for sale might be something far more. Arielle will discover that what catches her eye will take far more and she will never be the same again.

The work is a very short mixture of fantasy adventure with a hint of erotic passion and transformation around the edges. Focused on the main character Arielle, it follows a misadventure which results in her transformation into something not quite human with more monstrous aspects.

While there is a sexual edge which creeps into the story, it acts as a catalyst to other events and then drives the transformation at the heart of the work. Arielle’s change makes her something of a succubus sexually, though that isn’t explored, and for the most part is glossed over. The focus is on the myth of the jewelry she has come into possession of and those that know of its power.

As such, the work isn’t really that much of a succubus story, save for the scene which occurs at the last pages of the work, which creates a monstrous aspect of Arielle and a demonic form for her. The story dances around that point, never really takes it anywhere, and leaves one wondering what could have otherwise been.

With how short this work is, there’s no time to develop the story beyond skimming the surface. That’s especially true with the ending that leaves things hanging without resolving, or carrying the characters to any kind of closure, something that would have been nice to see.

Three out of five pitchforks.

Far too short with a story that’s very much incomplete as well. The work reads like a summary of the first few chapters of a larger story and that’s such a shame. The idea is interesting, the characters are as well. But it’s too rushed and too glossed over to really tell the story as well as I wanted it to be.
