Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 24, 2020

Being in the wrong place at the wrong time can lead to terrible things. Those that use magic without knowledge can bring about the worst fate of all, the loss of a soul.

The work is mainly focused on one of the main characters being possessed, through no fault of their own, by an incubus and the battle for their soul that rages throughout the story. It’s not really focused on the erotica so much as the relationships between the characters and where the plot takes them however. At times the story seems lost, seeking the plot, but that often is a reflection of the characters themselves as they come to terms with what happened.

The incubus of the work, who is never named, is very much stereotypical in their nature, personality and focus. There’s really very little explored about them, other than being a threat and what they represent. They are also so very one-dimensional in their personality and in being so they are something of a means to an end and not really much else.

Three out of five pitchforks.

It’s a quirky story with a lot of heart and passion that I thought worked quite well. The incubus was a bit too stereotypical for my liking overall however. How the story ends is a bit silly, but in the framework of the characters and the plot itself, it does make sense. It’s a shame that the incubus wasn’t really explored as much as I would have liked however, but then he wasn’t really that interesting anyway.
