Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 1, 2026
The world is a dangerous place with demons at every turn doing whatever they wish. For Greta, arriving at college to find her roommate is a succubus is not a good thing. A choice made brings her to the attention of a vampire and anything can, and will, happen then.
The work is a short adventure story with a monster girl focus which carries the story and characters towards a few erotic scenes with some heat to be found in them. There’s something of a rush in the story to get to the end, there’s not a lot of details or time spent in really developing the story universe and characters more than superficially. There is a story here, it is an interesting one, but the speed at which the tale is told makes everything so very thin on content, character development and more.
Mystia, the succubus of the story, is eminently dislikable from the first moment she appears and that does not get any better as the story unfolds. That’s very much on purpose of course, she’s meant to be evil with a single intent. But with that comes very much a stereotypical succubus character that really only cares about sex and consuming souls and as a result. Mystia is just a very boring character.
It’s one thing to be the evil foil to a main character, but with that should come a character that actually has a purpose, a plan, and works their way towards overcoming the hero. Just being evil and aloof really isn’t enough by far and I honestly expected more from her and that didn’t happen.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
Mystia was far too much expected in what she did and how things turned out. The overall story idea is interesting, but as with many of this author’s works, it is all told in a rush and there’s so little time spent to develop things beyond the superficial. Give that Mystia was really a minor character in the story, what’s left offers the possibility of a series, but somehow I don’t expect that will appear.
