Plot Summary

"Tell me how much you crave my touch" - Aster loves to explore dungeons, especially when they're rumoured to hold treasures of the underworld. For years the line between magic and the human realm has blurred, leading to sultry mythical creatures crossing through to th mortal realm. One day, Aster finds in the mountains a dungeon holding untold secrets, and a large-chested succubus longing for a man to worship her. Aster is eager to oblige when Fumiko suggests he massage her supple thighs, before they take things to the bedroom for more steamy fun.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on May 16, 2025

Aster was hoping for treasure, a bit of adventure perhaps. What he didn’t expect to find was a succubus and a very bored one at that. But he amuses Fumiko and she does so love being amused by those she can dominate. It’s especially a delight when the one being dominated wants that more than anything else they could imagine.

The work is a mixture of fantasy-adventure set in what is overall something like a present day setting with a tone that is very anime or hentai-like, save that recently the existence of supernatural beings has come to light. There is a very strong D/s tone to the story, as well as there being a very hypersexual theme which shifts from teasing through sexual innuendo before going into what is a reasonably hot scene of erotica before moving onwards. It’s a bit crass at times, some of the dialogue is rather crass and it doesn’t feel like it fits Fumiko in particular. Still, that is a matter of taste of course but really with all else I think it matters.

Fumiko, the succubus of the story, isn’t stereotypical, though she is very dominant, is very strong in that aspect as well. She’s very much a succubus, the seduction aspects of her character I did enjoy very much. With that said, some of the senses and dialogue just were at odds with what it felt like she was doing and acting upon. There’s more to her than just being dominant, much like there is more to Aster than being comminated and that needs to be explored.

The work needs a serious editing in the dialogue, the word structure and the emotions that are carried in them. Further to that, there is just something wrong with the language which Fumiko uses, the tone of her words and most of all, there’s just a feeling that a piece of the puzzle is missing with her.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

As this is noted to be the first work in a new series, I hope that the series will return to Fumiko, explore her more fully, and, if at all possible, explore the mythos of succubi in this universe further. There is promise here and given a bit more effort, a little more care and a lot more effort to make the story better, this can be, and should be, so much more.
