Plot Summary
A luck dragon should, as the name implies, be lucky. Not me. My luck stinks. And it’s about to get worse.
I traded away my magic long ago, and all that’s left is the rotten kind of luck. I’m barely scraping by, working as a supernatural errand girl, and the bills keep piling up. When a client dies on me before paying, I’m in desperate need of cash, fast. A case of mistaken identity lands me a golden opportunity: A high-paying gig, with four gorgeous hotties for clients.
There’s Dex, the intense, powerful gargoyle. Alain, the authoritative, suave incubus. Rowley, the adorable, funny fae. And their infuriating, control-freak boss, Will.
All I have to do is help them retrieve a valuable artifact, and not ask too many questions. Easier said than done. There’s a horde of pissed off supernaturals on our tail, and my own people want me dead. If I play the good little minion, I should walk away with a fortune. But I’ve never been one to toe the line, and, well… with my lousy luck, who knows what will happen?
Book Review

Things never quite work out well for Cassie, which might be the universe’s revenge of her being a luck dragon. Another deal gone wrong, another mess to try to survive brings her something she never expected to find. Friends are so hard to find, harder still to keep and as for lovers, that’s just not possible. Or is it when there is more than one love offered if she would only take the chance and survive.
The work is a fantasy adventure with a very strong reverse harem theme to it. There is a wide mixture of supernatural beings that pop up, the story twists and turns endlessly. There’s a lot of world building and character development which I enjoyed and found fascinating as well.
There are erotic aspects to the story, more in a romance tone which tends to not push things over the top and make them feel odd or out of place. There’s a purpose to the entanglements and each passage of erotica was lovely in the passion between the characters.
As this is mainly a reverse harem story, things shift between Cassie and each of her maybe lovers as things develop which brings me to Alain, the incubus of the work. Something of a mystery much of the time, he’s very much an incubus in his focus on sexual pleasures and there’s no question about him being an incubus. Sex is like breathing to him in that respect but at the same time there’s a unique quirk to his personality that brought me a smile.
Three out of five pitchforks.
Very much a reverse harem story with a lot of heat and as such that works really well to tell how things develop and how everything comes together. Not really an incubus story, it’s kind of tangential to everything else that happens and makes sense in how things develop. It’s a shame that a follow on work hasn’t appeared as there’s a lot of history in the characters that need to be explored and really should be.
