Plot Summary

After spending thirty years in New York City, thousand-year-old succubus Alexis Rayne figures it’s time for an identity change. With her new curves and her slick blond hair, Alexis sets out to rebuild her career from the ground up as a hired hitwoman.

Her target: some unknown drug dealer. Her payout: crappy.

But this is the trade-off for a quiet life in a small town. If she wants to make a name for herself, Alexis is going to have to prove her worth without pissing off the vampires. And once she finds her mark, she’ll finish him off… in more ways than one.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 31, 2020

Alexis needed a change, but the life of a hitwoman never leaves you and being a succubus on top of that makes everything so much more complicated. But there has to be a way out of this mess, the problem is finding it.

The work is a very short introduction to the main character of the series Alexis, to set up her world and give a glimpse of the problems she is facing. Quite funny at times, the snark is really well done and her character is delightfully miffed at the world too. It’s not erotica by any means, but with that said the story holds up well and it’s really quite a page turner.

Alexis, the succubus of the work, isn’t really evil exactly. She’s found a way to answer her needs and it is an interesting means of doing so. There is a glimpse of her true form in the story, which is a bit on the demonic edge, but overall she’s very much a succubus femme fatale and I liked that a lot.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

Alexis is a delightful puzzle and with what came in this work, the series overall I do think would be something quite special. Except that the series sort of started then fell apart and honestly that was a real shame. Sometimes the most interesting characters are the ones with their secrets held close and the questions they bring with them. Alexis certainly was that by far.
