Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 16, 2020

Love isn’t something that Sam ever expected. She also didn’t expect Lou to appear out of thin air and become his singular focus either. But there is more happening than Sam realizes, a battle looms before them which will move both heaven and hell.

The work is a well told and drawn story of love, desire, the battle within one’s soul, and the choices made in the name of the love for another. It’s very much a manga visual novel, the art style is very much that, the writing is as well. It’s not erotica however, far from it really. It’s more about the main characters coming to terms with themselves and those around them.

There are a number of characters who can be described as being succubi or incubi in nature, the main character Lou, formally Lucifer, is something between an incubus and the lord of hell, but really isn’t exactly evil. There are other characters, mainly female, that are succubi and their brand of catty evil lurks throughout the story.

Four out of five pitchforks.

It’s a deeply telling and emotional story, the characters are complex and leaves a lot to think about at the close. The epilogue ending did give me pause, to wonder if that really needed to happen, but there happiness sometimes brings a darker side as well. Perhaps that story will be told someday. It’s something to think about.
