Plot Summary

Waking up after a thousand years of magical sleep, Dimitra, Goddess of Succubi, finds an adventurer reaching for her golden crown. As a succubus she feeds off the sexual energy of her partners and so she decides to make a feast of these annoying adventurers. Starting with the Rogue who broke into her resting place and tried to steal her gold.

Kelona is an elven rogue, and completely unprepared to come under the attention of a goddess. This is not the easy quest for long forgotten treasure that she was promised, but she might find something special there all the same.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 14, 2022

Time waits for no soul and Dimitra, goddess though she is, cannot escape that reality. Time lost, awakened to a new world, she discovers that her tomb of sleep has been violated. But those that awakened her are still present and perhaps they will tell her what has happened, or at least give her the energy her body now craves.

The work is very short, what I tend to call a pamphlet in length, which really is a shame. There’s a lot of story told in a very short time. The characters are fleshed out to an extent as well. There’s a delightfully hot erotic scene too. All are good little things on their own, there’s just a lot wanting on the edges.

The succubus of the work, Dimitra, is a fascinating character. She’s not at all stereotypical, which I loved, but more so she’s thoughtful and seeks something more than just satisfaction. It’s the need to give to her companion in pleasure something more. To seek out what troubles them and give them release that I thought was refreshing.

But she’s not really described fully, not really allowed to tell much of her story, her background too. The question of why she came to be in her crypt is left as a question and that’s an interesting point to follow through on I hope.

Written very much like a mixture of fantasy and mystery, the overall concept is a good one. There’s a good number of hooks to hold a reader’s interest. But it being so short, the story doesn’t have a lot of time to reflect. It moves forward from awakening, to confrontation to erotica and then pauses for a moment as Dimitra considers what is next.

That all works, but the rush I think could have been smoothed out by adding a few more pages and give Dimitra a bit of time to think about her past more, to weep over what she’s lost. If nothing else, adding that bit of character development would have been interesting.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

Dimitra is really interesting, but she’s very much undefined overall. That’s going to be the hard part of this series going forwards. Not that she appears to be evil, more than she isn’t really fleshed out well even with the hints and backstory that wants to be told lurking in the shadows. Perhaps in finding the story of that past, in unraveling the mystery before her, that’s where this series can really become all it appears to offer.
