Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 10, 2023

Lady Chace has a problem and a dire need within herself. Dreams offer a glimpse of her future and fate, but the path will be a long and arduous one. The temptation is irresistible to her, but will she prove up to the task and the challenge that awaits her.

The work is an interesting fantasy adventure which slowly turns toward a rather involved and complicated erotic futa tale. The heat builds slowly, the characters all tell delightful hints about themselves that I think work well. It’s a bit lacking on the details here and there, which might have been nice to explore further, however. Still, it’s the three main characters that hold the story well. Lady Chace’s need to see her dreams and the submissive nature she offers contrast well with the dominant vampire and succubus characters who are both futas.

Neither the vampire nor the succubus are ever named, which is a little disappointing. That said, the succubus is not exactly evil, more gleefully naughty and it was interesting to see where her character went in the story. The succubus isn’t stereotypical, though she physically has the typical red skin, horns, tail and wings. But she just has this commanding tone that mixed well with the vampire in how they command Lady Chace and that brought needed heat.

The storytelling prior to the erotica works really well, the adventure is captivating and I enjoyed the ups and downs that Lady Chace faced. The erotica however was less well done as a whole. The heat was a bit muted, the actions and dialogue felt lacking with all that came before. It doesn’t need to be romantic, but it does need to express all three character’s personalities better to tell a better story.

Three and a half pitchforks out of five.

I would have really liked for the succubus and vampire to be named. It would have added a bit more personality and connection to the characters overall. A follow-on story would be interesting, there’s a new world to explore and really should be. The characters certainly offer a lot in their own ways.
