Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on October 9, 2020
Chad has a problem, but it might just solve a bigger one. The book he’s given is said to summon demons, but that can’t be true. But after a few missteps, the idea of summoning a succubus is irroestiable. What happens next is either everything he wants or all that he can deal with.
The work overall is something of a comedy mixed with a little bit of erotica around the edges to add some spice. While it has some moments, for the most part there’s really very little in the way of a succubus theme to be found. The missteps that Chad goes through are very much over the top and just seem like filler before he summons the succubus.
Jezebel, the succubus of the story, is very much a temptress and tease. Her personality is every bit as it should be for a succubus and she’s a delight in the story. But the problem is that she only appears at the very beginning and the very last chapter. As such the story really doesn’t focus on her as it really should have.
She starts the story by tempting Chad, if fleetingly, and then just does nothing until the climax, in many ways, of the story. That feels like a lost thread to play with, I can think of a lot of ways that could have worked.
Three out of five pitchforks.
It’s a cute and silly story which has its moments overall. Still, it’s a bit too short, the ending leaves something to be desired as well. I wonder about what comes next for the characters and it’s a shame that wasn’t even a little explored. A follow on story would have been nice, but that didn’t happen.
