Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on September 21, 2021
Molly’s life hasn’t been wonderful by any means. Being attacked isn’t good, and finding out that she isn’t human isn’t much better. Still, the discovery that she has a brother is one positive thing isn’t it? Molly hopes so, things can’t get much worse can they?
The work drifts between creating the universe the story is set in and the trials that Molly faces in finding herself and what it all means to her. It’s very complex at times, many myths and legends are touched upon in the storytelling. What’s interesting about that is the myths aren’t exactly as one might expect them to be. There’s a lot of tangents the work takes and I thought they were very imaginative.
Molly, the succubus of the work and Milo, her incubus brother, don’t act like what the traditional myths tell of them and that’s quite refreshing. Both are thoughtful, trying to come to terms with their past and possible futures. Along the way there are ssme terrible moments, but there are also some moments of hope and joy that fit them both well.
There is some erotica in the work, but it doesn’t drive the story overall. What does matter is the piecing together of what Molly has been through and how she and Milo move to their futures. The ending fits them well, it dives hope and considering all they have been through, that’s a fitting place for the story to be.
Four out of five pitchforks.
The mythos around Molly and Milo is inspired, detailed and gives something to think about. It’s a very enveloping read and one should enjoy every page for the wonder the author creates. Story matters and here the story really means everything.
