Plot Summary

Bad: An asexual Catholic priest falls for the choir director at his church. Worse: That choir director just happens to be a succubus in disguise.

For as long as he's been an adult, Father Nikolas has been a priest. He went from high school to seminary school and then found a flock to lead in a small suburb of London. He's never needed or wanted anything else, really. But when he finds his eyes lingering on the choir director long after everyone else has left, Niko begins to question everything.

Levi was cast out from Heaven and he chose to become a succubus, pursuing the pleasures of mankind instead of their torment. He sees Father Nikolas as just another meal, someone to play with, seduce, nourish himself with, and leave. But all that changes when he finds himself growing feelings for the priest.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 6, 2022

The pull of desire unexpectedly draws Nikolas to Levi, the attraction something he cannot overcome. The truth of Levi, the means of what makes him attractive might open the door for them both to free their souls.

The work is a long drawn out piece of m/m erotica with undertones of a succubus, or for me, incubus manipulation which takes some unexpected turns. The main focus is on the sexuality of the main characters and where that attraction takes them.

Levi, the incubus (again my thoughts of him) of the work, isn’t exactly evil. Beginning the story as seeking a means to feed, he begins to develop towards something more, which I thought was interesting. Though very focused on his and Niko’s desires, there’s still aspects of something more that are touched on, but feel like they aren’t explored enough.

The erotica passes throughout the work, falling in and out to push the characters towards each other. There’s a bit less emotional impact to that, some of the moments are narrated a bit coldly. The attraction between the charters is unmistakable and serves well in telling the story in that aspect, but just feels like it’s missing something.

Overall, there’s a feeling of a bit of emotion missing. A little more character development needed. The narrative I think could use that little spark more of emotion at points where the characters needs and desires overcome them. Reflection by each in a deeper way might be the means to that as I just feel like more storytelling in that aspect is needed.

Three out of five pitchforks.

I feel like there’s not quite enough character development overall and that comes from a certain coolness in some of the emotional moments. Perhaps Levi telling more of how he came to be where he is, a bit more depth in his character than just his last would have made the work deeper than the sexual attraction. It’s a interesting work, but could be more with that missing emotional note and connection.
