Plot Summary
Waylaid by a storm whilst backpacking through Transylvania, Dave seeks shelter in an abandoned manor-house, delirious from the cold. He wakes weak and disorientated, unable to find his clothes or pack, and trapped like a rat in a cage within the ancient dwelling.
A sinister feminine force seems to stalk him through its corridors, and creepily, the dilapidated building begins to repair itself around him. At last, an ebony-haired beauty presents herself, watching lustfully, licking her lips, and telling him tales that must be the delusions of her mind. She takes him captive, depriving him of his clothes, and forcing herself upon him. She must be crazy, reasons, these must be delusions of her mind …
They simply must … mustn’t they?
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 18, 2021
Trouble seems to have found Dave and there’s not a lot of hope when you are lost in the middle of nowhere. But shelter appears out of the gloom as he comes to the end of his strength. But the one that greets him has her secrets and desires for which he will be paying the price for.
There’s an interesting mix of mystery and various fetishes through the work, as well as a strong femdom undertone. Dave is, from the beginning, at the mercy of the Mistress, the only name the succubus of the work is given.
I’d mentioned in my prior review that something was missing and that turns out to be a chapter that wasn’t in the original work. Adding that helped a lot with getting into the why of how things developed. The succubus is still a bit out of the story however. She’s very much in control, she’s directing Dave throughout, but somehow something’s still not there.
Being that this reissue is the beginning of a series, I’d hope for more background on the succubus, but for Dave as well. To somehow explain how the two of them are connected would be nice as it seems like Dave had been expected for some time.
Personally I prefer softer Domme than what the Mistress is in this work. That’s not to say there’s an issue with how she’s written, more than perhaps a bit less her being harsh and more her transforming Dave into her pet in a deeper way could add more.
The heat in the erotica is good, though some more focus on the relationship between the two would add something that’s missing here. It’s a bit too quick, a bit too short before the next moment arrives. It need not be overly detailed, but some emotional aspects from the succubus would be good.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
There’s still a number of small editing issues that need to be dealt with. They aren’t showstoppers by any means, but as a whole one more editing pass I think would clear up some confusion and focus the storytelling a bit more.
There’s a lot of interesting questions for the series to delve into and that does interest me. Perhaps what interests me the most is the open question that Dave discovers in the last pages. Perhaps there’s a path for both Dave and his Mistress to find a way to something more than what’s foreshadowed.
I’d hope so.
