Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on October 8, 2017
Juni needs to solve a mystery and as a half-muse that will take some help. But her friend Kaya is very good at getting answers being a succubus. Perhaps together they will discover the truth and discover themselves.
The work overall is a short hot flash with a mystery wrapped around the edges to draw things forward. There’s really not a lot of character development, not much in the way of the story moving forward either. Mostly it tells of Juni’s thoughts about her roommate, her sexual fantasies and the encounters that Juni gets herself into.
As for Kaya, the succubus of the work, she’s in the story, but not really core to the story. She teases, which is delightful, and she is every bit the seductress she should be. There’s a really nice scene of her mind controlling another character that was perfect for her style and character which I adored. But otherwise she’s in the background, her sexual games teasing at Juni over and over and that did bring a lot of heat with it. But there’s just so very little of Kaya being a succubus and I wish there was more.
Three out of five pitchforks.
It’s a shame that the series didn’t continue. Kaya was very interesting, seductive and teasing which made her interesting. Juni was, of course, the focus of the story, but it really would have been nice to see more of Kaya as a succubus than she was. An interesting start, offering quite a lot but never fulfilled.
