Plot Summary

Henry Gibraltar's sixteen year old grandson has been kidnapped. The question is by who. Was it Amperdyne Securities, the hi-tech company hired to protect the Gibraltar family? Or was it the Long Beach vampire coven recently employed by Gibraltar? Or did it have some connection with his werewolf bodyguard? The FBI is on the case, but Gibraltar doesn't trust them. He needs a preternatural to investigate preternaturals. So Bianca Savage, Succubus For Hire, is called on to help find the boy. Unlike the FBI, she's a preternatural PI, immune to vampire charms. At least, the mystical ones. But with her hunger growing out of control, will she kill the people she's trying to help? Or will she uncover the truth behind the kidnapping in time?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 25, 2019

Sometimes the investigations are easy and sometimes they are a pain. For Bianca, it’s never simple and being a succubus makes things a lot more of a pain in the neck. But there’s something strange about this case and it will get stranger still.

The work is a very complicated tale of mystery, suspense, desire and the darker side of life which cash together and what follows is a very odd and somewhat lost story that tries to find the truth of things. With that said, this is very much a detective mystery, there is no erotica to be found though there is a good deal of mythos built up around succubi, vampires and werewolves.

The main character of the work, Bianca Savage, is something of a succubus with no real idea about herself. Her story is so very different, there’s a lot she doesn’t know, and as the story unfolds, she learns a bit about herself, but even so the mystery gets deeper and by the end there’s more questions than answers.

While Bianca is a delight, her snark is especially fun, the story takes a lot of twists and turns, looking in directions that add pages, but don’t move the story very much. When it returns to the main plot, things are a lot tighter and focused. But there is a lot of story that leaves Bianca’s abilities and her past just barely touched on and I wish there had been more time spent on building up her character more.

Four out of five pitchforks.

The work closes in a place where it naturally would have led to the next book in the series. The questions about Bianca, about succubi, and other mysteries would have been explored I hope. But that didn’t happen, this is the only work that has appeared and it’s really a shame that nothing more did.
