Plot Summary

Caterer Paul Devlin is given a choice: collect seven souls or die. Succubus Tiffany Jones doesn't even have to guess which he will choose, especially since it involves having sex with women. Little do they know that three coven witches are hunting the succubus and that an inquisitrix is zeroing in on the witches. Add a she-werewolf looking for a mate in the mix and you get a sexy Halloween party where no one is who they appear and the ending will surprise most.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on September 12, 2023

Paul is having something of a number of unexpected events happen around him. If it’s not the succubus threatening his life, it’s being forced to do her bidding. If it’s not one woman falling into the trap with him, it’s the collection of others that scheme their way into his life. That can’t all be bad, after all, the sex is amazing. Still, there is the matter of the succubus and how he’s going to get out of this mess, one way or the other.

The work is an amusingly told rollercoaster that mixes various supernatural characters and themes into something of a mystery which takes the main character on a journey. It’s inside of the plot where the seductive evil of the succubus Tiffany plays out alongside of Paul’s quest to give Tiffany what she wants from him. What follows is something akin to a harem story with a bit of danger and deception along the way to keep things interesting.

As such, while there is a succubus in this work, she’s really only pushing the story forwards at the beginning and then Paul goes off to encounter the other women in the work. Tiffany, the succubus of this story, is really far more a femme fatale who is a succubus than the other way around. She’s mischievously evil, which I adored, but there’s really not enough character development for her and the other characters beyond Paul.

That’s a bit of a shame because the story feels like it’s rushing towards the climax and revelations which leaves a lot of storytelling unsaid. Similarly, the erotica does have heat, but it feels a bit rushed again. Slowing down the story with a bit more telling of who the characters are and what they desire before the final reveal might have made the story that much better.

Overall quite the unique story, though it’s bit thin on the succubus aspects. Following the climax it would have been interesting to play the story out a little more and explore how things turned out. The harem aspects bring the characters together and how that all shakes out between them beyond the need for Paul could have been a better close.

Three out of five pitchforks.

With all that said, there is a question at the end which might lead into another story which I think is interesting. That will likely never happen, but it’s something to mull over.
