Plot Summary

As an immortal Succubus, Jaden has charmed life. He’s got money, three wonderful Succubi partners who love and dote on him, and a particular diet that requires him to feed on the sexual energy exerted during sex with humans. His life should be perfect, yet, his heart was still incomplete. His partners have all found what they needed, but Jaden is still searching. That is until he meets Elijah, an attractive Korean guy who's never been able to convince anyone to have sex with him. Is he the one Jaden’s been waiting for to fill the missing part of his heart? Or is there something more lurking within Elijah than just a chaste existence?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 15, 2021

Jaden’s life as a succubus is both delightful and at times a bit of a pain in the rear. Not quite like his other succubi brothers, he feeds differently to them and looks for something different. Encountering Elijah takes both on a journey that neither expected or know where it will bring them both.

The work is, at its core, a mystery which takes the main characters from sexual delights to a very harsh questioning of their realities. It should be made clear the the succubi in this work are male and the erotica is very much focused on male sexuality. I found that interesting because while there are some dominant and harsh moments, overall the story is really less about their gender and more about the relationships between all of the characters in the work.

The succubi are not quite the typical succubi in their nature, there’s some very unique aspects to them that are delightful and expressive. Whether the moments are light or a bit dark, the aspects that come to the fore are perfectly used to make the events more impactful and unexpected.

Jaden, the main character, is delightfully reflective and considers his emotions and what he should, at least to the other succubi, to be doing to survive. I felt that he has a very honourable viewpoint, one that makes sense for him as a whole. Where things get a bit muddled is how the succubi are “supposed” to act to survive and that, honestly, brings into the story some reflections and revelations to the characters.

The heat is throughout the work, it simmers in the background, coming to the fore here and there to add something to a moment where it delights or presses the characters to reveal something. Being that the erotica is male/male in focus, it may not be what some would appreciate as a whole. But from the structure of the story, the characters themselves, it’s not out of place, it’s loving and really it speaks to them as a whole very well.

There is a scattering of issues in the writing to note. Some tenses are mixed in the work, the narration reads a little odd as a result, but it’s not very often. There’s also a bit of an oddity in the dialogue from time to time, but I’m not sure if that is meant to be there because of the personalities. Overall the writing is emotional, it tells of the hearts of the characters and that is something quite special.

Four out of five pitchforks

The mystery behind the story is deep and captivating. The ending answers one question and turns the story in a direction that I didn’t expect from the start. I will be looking forward to the next story in the series, I think there’s a lot to unravel and that will be something of a battle for the characters to overcome together.
