Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 6, 2018

A mystery seeming without end gathers souls towards a goal that should never be. But light works in mysterious ways and given the right soul, no darkness can survive.

The work is a mystery adventure set in the 1920s which revolves around the main character becoming involved in a number of events that eventually become tied to a single individual who is anything but what they appear to be/ Very dark at times, the mystery is oiled apart thread by thread until the climax arrives.

It’s very much a struggle between good and evil throughout, some of the more mystical aspects are joined with themes of hypnosis and mind control as well as a certain level of possession as well.

The character Elenor seems to be possessed by what is best described as being an aspect of Lilith, which comes to the fore once or twice as the story is told. The evil tone is there, the seduction is a bit muted, though that has a lot to do with the setting as well. There are also hints of another character being somewhat incubus like as well, but it’s more in the mind control aspects than the erotic ones by far.

Three out of five pitchforks.

Very much a mystery adventure with a bit of fantasy and sorcery mixed into it, but really there is very little to be found in the way of succubi and incubi. With that said, I find myself wondering what the story would have been like with that aspect of Lilith being more central to the story. It’s something to wonder about really.
