Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 8, 2020

The night holds a terror in its mystery and to uncover the truth leads to a fate which cannot be escaped.

The work is a short horror mystery story which overall tends to remain in the depths of the mystery throughout. The atmosphere is so very dark, the story never straying from that. There’s no passion or light to be found, for that really wouldn’t have a place in the writing overall.

The incubus of the work, who is never named, is a spirit of evil and its demonic intent becomes more and more obvious as the story unfolds. It’s less an incubus overall however than being just overwhelmingly evil, which wasn’t at all appealing to me.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

I don’t really enjoy horror stories and this one really didn’t appeal to me very much. It’s a bit too confused and scattered, not to mention that as the truth is revealed there’s a disconnect that kept bothering me a lot. For those that enjoy horror, I’m sure they will enjoy this work but my interests are elsewhere.
