Jack has a few problems to deal with, one is his girlfriend, another is his frustration. But the single biggest problem is a certain professor of Human Sexuality that seems to be something more than what she appears. Events unfold and Jack finds himself in Anya’s tender mercies, learning more than what the class offers alone.
The thing about this work is that it might, or might not, have a succubus as one of the main characters. There is reference made to succubi, and all of the points made, which Jack muses over, seem to reflect highly upon Anya. But at no point is it actually put out in the open that she is a succubus. This makes for an interesting mystery to unravel as the story progresses, one that really there’s no firm answer to.
This isn’t the core plot of the work by any means, Jack’s life, his relationships, and figuring out exactly what he wants through Anya’s teaching him about his own sexuality, needs, and desires is. There is a good deal of effort placed into making Jack interesting, building up his character, telling of his emotional state as things are revealed to him. The discovery of something, rather, someone, that he’s known for so long is wonderful and brings the story to a lovely conclusion.
Before getting to that revelation, the erotic scenes between Anya and Jack have wonderful heat, there’s something quite special in the telling that I enjoyed. There’s a feeling of need in Jack, the willingness, if not the same need, in Anya as well. It isn’t porn scenes in nature, the scenes border on something of a romance novel which I enjoyed.
Anya remains a mystery in the end, suggesting, in a roundabout way, that she is a succubus. Part of the focus of the work is Jack writing a paper on the succubi and the little editing notes we see from Anya did cause me to arch an eyebrow in consideration about her. If she is a succubus, she isn’t an evil one by any means. She loves sex, sexuality, and the comments made about “consuming” someone like Jack reflects in what he learns about succubi. I wonder about that paper, what it all says. That in itself might make for an interesting thing to read as well.
The author writes exceptionally well, the characters are all very strong, having purpose and form. The erotica isn’t silly, over the top or impossible. Story carries this work, the erotica supports that point very well. But is this a story about a succubus? The answer to that is in the eyes of the reader I think. That’s quite a unique way to tell a story.

Is Anya a succubus? Perhaps, perhaps not. Overall that isn’t very important to the story, save for a means to leave the reader guessing as to what the answer really is. Sometimes circumstance, situation, and events just happen. Sometimes they are planned for a purpose. Either way, the truth is something to wonder about and this is what I enjoyed the most.
