Plot Summary
For the first time ever, Jillian Rose is presenting us with a succubus tale... told through the eyes of the succubus herself! In this depraved tale of blood soaked sexual debauchery, we follow an unnamed succubus as she visits three very different men, all of which have something in common: They all end up dead, and to her they are nothing but submissive insects.
Richard: A drug addled rockstar with a lean muscular frame and long black hair.
Adisa: An African warlord with the libido of a raging bull.
David: A morbidly obese homebody with a passion for being pegged and degraded.
She will visit all of them, and she will be there when they all meet their individual fates, having special plans for their eternally damned souls...
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 26, 2020
The work is a collection of short vignettes where the main character, a succubus, is drawn to various souls and takes them to hell through their own darkness. It’s very much a horror story overall, the darkness is very present throughout each tale. There’s really no seductive focus to the work, the characters the succubus is drawn to are eminently dislikable and at the end of each tale there’s just the same closure before the next scene begins.
The succubus of the work, who is never named, is very much a creature of evil with a purpose and there’s really not a lot of emotion from her other than distaste to each soul she encounters. She consumes souls, through sex and otherwise, and is very much a dark succubus. It’s a shame that her name was never revealed or that more time was not spent with creating her background and history. It’s a piece of the puzzle that’s missing and it would have been nice to have.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
From a horror aspect, the work is very well done, but while the succubus is so present in the story, there’s really not all that much told about her, least of all her name. Very dark in mood and plot, it’s not a seductive story by any means, nor is it meant to be so. From that perspective, those that enjoy horror will find this appealing, but it was something that I didn’t really enjoy overall.
