Plot Summary

Roxy’s problem is that she’s always hungry and for a succubus, that’s a real problem. Some of the best hunting grounds are in clubs and tonight’s meal is waiting for her there.
The work is a hot flash wrapped in what otherwise is a unique take on a succubus character. Roxy is sex on heels throughout, she never really pulls back from being so and after a certain point she becomes less and less interesting. She becomes more and more a sex bomb as things unfold, falling into her need and hunger, and it just took away a lot from what had been built up before.
There’s a lot of questions about Roxy left open and being that this is the first work in the series, that’s fine. Still, her internal monologue gets… dull. Yes she is a succubus, yes she’s hunting, but it’s not that interesting to have her thinking about her looks as much as she does. Getting past the self-love and into what’s driving her would have been nice overall.
The heat that’s told at the beginning of the work I thought was far more interesting than everything that happened once she found her prey. The dialogue was more porn than erotic as was the situation as it was described. Erotica shouldn’t be bored and this part of the story just didn’t hold my attention overall.
That really shouldn’t be, and I think it’s the singular issue with this work. There’s a lot to like, but things get sidetracked and they really shouldn’t have. Perhaps a focus on more story and a hotter, more focused erotic scene would be the better way to approach this.

As the opening to a series, there’s a lot to like in this work. The problem is however that the erotica tends to border on slightly hot porn movie levels at times and that, honestly, is the most disappointing thing.
Roxy has a lot of promise, there’s an odd mix of humanity and succubus in her which could lead towards something. That said, the amount of introspection she goes through would be better if it told more about her background.
The next work in the series, Succubus Fun, is noted at the end of the work and it’s obviously going to lead on from where this one closed. The question is whether the author will manage to avoid Roxy being stereotypical or making her something special. I really hope that can happen.
