One of my own beliefs about Succubi is that they are not evil beings or wish to be. While that is the way most writers tell the stories of the Succubi, there are a few, if only a few, who see something else in them and bring that to the fore.
Part of that, of course, is they bring eroticism with the Succubi, and if the author can manage to bridge the two well… It can make for a very delicious story…
Alex enters a store and finds a ring that does not seem to want to let go of him. He leaves with it and when he returns home, he thinks about his fantasy woman… and in the middle of the night, she comes to see him… again and again… and… well, there is a lot of that to be seen…
There is a lot that I like about this story, and that mainly comes to how Alex’s life is shown, how he sees himself and those around him. It isn’t a hot flash in which the story moves directly to the sex scenes leaving the world building and character building to the wayside. In doing so the author made a story that is a lot more interesting to me.
One part of that is Alex’s dream woman is a redhead. As the story unfolds and the Succubus of the story Shala appears, I had a bit of deja vu over her in that she really reminded me of someone… Those that know will know the reference I mean.
What is also nice is that Shala is nothing like the stereotypical Sucucbus in any way, shape or form. While she has no horns or tail, she is very seductive, can be demanding and somewhat dominant in nature sometimes, but most of all she is there to share pleasure above all else. That makes her one of a very few Succubus characters that give more than they take or demand of their partners.
But in that, she is very talented in her abilities, how she plays with Alex at one moment, submits to his desires in the next, and then draws them both through a lovely and erotic set of scenes that were enthralling to me. While she is there for the sex, at least in the way the story is told, she is more than that, hints at it, but we only have those hints to see and, regretfully, nothing more.
In truth we learn more about Alex’s neighbour than Shala herself. By the end of the story we have only hints about what she is exactly. There is nothing about her past, her own desires or her wants or needs other than pleasuring Alex.
I can see, in a way, that the story might have been inspired by all of those so-called Succubus summoning rings you can find on eBay and the like, which I truly dislike with a passion. However, in this case, in this story, that prop opens a door to a well told, hot, and wonderful story about a Succubus and the man who summoned her.
Lovely writing, there really wasn’t anything that took me out of the story, and the heat was just right overall. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of story behind Shala. Her appearance was right, her words were right, her sensuality was perfect. It’s just that I wanted to know more about her.
Are there more like her? Is she the last or the first? What drives her? Where did she go when Alex awoke? She claimed to be real, so who is she? I felt like there was a hint of who she really was, and if that is true… That would have been an interesting twist on the story…
I’ll give this work four pitchforks out of five.
It’s almost a perfect story, but we learn next to nothing about Shala which I think is a shame for all that happens otherwise… The thing of it is, there is an open door at the end of the work for more and it was never taken… That’s the biggest shame of all…
