Plot Summary

In a world ruled by the shadows, where ancient courts of vampires and fiends wage a silent war, Scarlett is a human prisoner with no hope left. Held captive by a cruel vampire king, her existence is a living hell—until a powerful succubus named Morgan storms the court, not to save Scarlett, but to steal a stolen artifact. In a twist of fate, their lives become irrevocably intertwined, forging a bond that defies all logic.

As their connection deepens, they discover a power that could either save their world or tear it apart. But their love is a beacon in the dark, and their enemies, both old and new, will stop at nothing to extinguish it. The king is still out there, his power growing, his rage a storm on the horizon. He wants not just to defeat them, but to ruin them completely.

Can a human who has lost everything and a monster who has lost her humanity find a way to love and live in a world that wants them dead?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on May 8, 2026

Scarlett knows the darkness of lost hope, Morgan knows of the darkness beyond the evil that surrounds them both. But a glimmer of the impossible sets them both on a course to discover what they both thought was lost forever. Hope, passion and love itself.

The work is a fantasy romance adventure with a dark edge and a mixture of human, vampire, incubus and succubus characters. Quite fast paced, the story tends to push through events and occasionally seems to lose itself along the way. It’s not really erotica at the core of the story, though there are some light erotic moments between the two main characters that I thought worked well in making their connection meaningful.

Morgan, the succubus of the story, is so very unique. She begins as something near to evil with her truth buried so deeply that when it comes out for the sake of Scarlett, it’s entirely transformation for her. Her descriptions, the telling power she has, the force of will that marks her standing are all so dearly interesting. I wools have really liked to see more of Morgan before Scarlett appeared, to see her before so that who she is at the end of the story has more meaning than what is revealed.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work needs another editing pass, there are a number of issues, not the least of which is what seems to be a few chapters being out of sequence. Along with that the narrative could be cleaned up a bit, there’s a lot of repetitive moments that feel a bit copy and pasted in. The overall story is interesting, but I really wanted to know more about Morgan, about the succubi and incubi mythos as well. Lots of questions that just never get touched on well, there’s a lot of story background that needed to be explored and I wish it had been.
