Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 10, 2021
A knight’s work is never done for there is evil afoot and about. Tristan comes into conflict with an incubus and cannot resist them. Transformed, the work of a newly formed incubus is never done.
The work is a very short erotic hot flash, what I call a pamphlet in length which revolves around an fantasy incubus and transformation theme with a male/male erotic focus. It’s interesting from a story perspective, the characters are complicated and the events make things even more so for them all.
The transformation aspects are more towards the mental rather than the physical overall, though the powers of the incubi come through quite well. They are creatures of seduction and temptation and those aspects of the story are quite well told.
The incubus of the work, who is never named, is very dominant but also so very full of themselves and at times it’s a bit off putting as to how Tristian becomes caught and then falls to them. It might have worked better if they had been given a name as being called incubus over and over feels a bit wrong. As for Tristian, once transformed, he’s very much like the unnamed incubus in many ways though some part of his personality do come out occasionally around the seductiveness of his new form.
Three out of five pitchforks.
I really wish that the mythos of incubi in this story universe had been explored quite a lot more. As for for the ending, it leaves a bit to be desired and feels like another five pages or so would have allowed for a more satisfying ending. A unique story about incubi certainly and I thought it was well told.
