Plot Summary
Vylana has always longed for true love, but everyone knows Succubi don't get soulmates… or do they? Maybe they get a dozen. In Ashana, anything is possible. Ashana is a world between worlds where anything is possible, but that doesn't mean it's easy to find love.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 30, 2023
Vylana has a wish and a desire, but being a succubus makes them so much more complicated. It’s just a dream to find a soulmate, to be in love, it couldn’t possibly happen to her. But sometimes the universe decides otherwise and the impossibly becomes entirely possible.
The work is a delightfully fun quest adventure which takes the main character Vylana on something of a wild goose chase to find the pieces of a puzzle and win what she has always needed. It’s emotional, fun, sometimes a bit erotic. Most of all, there’s a teasing joy as the story unfolds and Vylana sorts out herself along with the mystery.
Vylana, the succubus of the work, really doesn’t do much in a succubus sort of way. What little is mentioned comes to the need which is always there, and what she wants couldn’t possibly be. Very strong-willed, Vylana changes and grows as the story is told, soon opening her mind and heart to seeing beyond herself.
This all leads to a climax which fits her well, offers an answer that makes sense too. While Vylana is described as a succubus, there’s really so very little of that aspect of her character explored. That set aside, the story is fun, Vylana is delightful and the telling of the adventure is wonderful.
Still, this isn’t really a succubus story at the core. There’s little in the way of Vylana giving voice to her powers, nor is there really any point at which they really are needed. Vylana isn’t evil by any means, she’s doing the best she can for the sake of a greater good and that makes her so very attractive. I’m not really sure that having more succubus aspects appear would have added much otherwise with everything else that unfolds.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
I’d have liked to know more about Vylana, the work ends on a note which offers more story to be told. It would be nice to see what her actions will bring, the joys and pleasures too.
