Plot Summary

Yuri Marshall thought she knew everything about her small town, she knew her closest friends, and was fairly certain about the hum-drum life she was more than happy to lead. But after a vicious attacking the late hours of the night, her small world suddenly became much larger once she'd enlisted a co-worker's help. Matt is charming, sweet and funny, everything she knew she could rely on when the going got tough...but she never imagined this.

She's his favorite person. Someone he can rely on and care for in the same breath. He only hoped she'd see him how he saw her, but he never imagined the power she'd hold.

He never imagined he'd belong to her.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 5, 2024

Yuri discovers that the world around her isn’t what it seems. There are dangers lurking and one of them wants her however they can. But in asking for help, she discovers that someone she works with isn’t exactly human, he’s something else and that might make all of the difference.

The work is a combination of mystery and adventure with some supernatural notes along the way. The main characters fit together really well, the story revolves around them delightfully. There are the occasional moments along the way which have some erotic tones, as well as some moments of terror for the main character herself. It’s complex and that makes the story interesting as well, being so allows for the exploration of the supernatural world in this story to fall into place.

There are two incubi characters to be found in the story, one of which is stereotypical in their evil, their actions and just leaves a very cold feeling when they appear. That’s the point of course, there needs to be something to battle against for the main characters to find each other.

Matt, the main incubus character of the story, and the other main character overall, is a very unique incubus. He’s very much a submissive sexual being, desiring Yuri and to be claimed by her. His thoughts are both very sweet and very needful, but there’s an edge to him when it comes to Yuri that’s shaded in love and need. It gives him such a fascinating story arc and seeing where that takes him was captivating.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work ends on a lovely and positive note, but I honestly would have liked a little more story about the aftermath and what it all meant for Yuri and Matt. It’s sort of an open question, which might lead into another story about them and it would be lovely to see.
