Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 16, 2025
Within this anthology, the story Incubus tells about a witch summoning an incubus, she intending to ensnare him and bring him to become her pet and she his mistress. A very short hot flash that doesn’t spend a lot of time straying from the main characters and the entanglement which occurs, there’s a lot of heat from beginning to end and it’s delightful. The characters are both very dominant in their personalities and it’s interesting how that aspect of each is turned towards the climax.
The incubus, who is sadly never named as is the witch herself, initially has a feel to their character that is just on the edge of being stereotypical, a bit too sure of themselves, a little too certain they will be in control. But as things unfold, and the witch tempts him through his nature, the fall and submission is just wonderfully told in how it makes sense and feels right.
It’s a shame the story is as short as it is, I would love to see a larger story told about these characters and what came afterwards. How things end leaves a lot to be explored and it’s something to wonder about.
Four out of five pitchforks.
The collection as a whole is, again, a series of very short hot flashes which are really well told. Each story tells of a different supernatural being, their wants, the other they encounter and the domination and submission of the characters that follow.
For the work as a whole, four out of five pitchforks.
Each work really does need to be turned into a larger story as well, they ar all amazing stories with amazing characters. Well worth a read by far.
