Plot Summary
Surrounded by posers and sheep, determined to follow the crowd, Jez has found himself making some drastic changes to his life. Remodelling himself after his old school Heavy Metal heroes he's done away with modern gadgets and gizmos and is trying to live his life as lo-fi as possible. That includes buying all his music again on vinyl. And his latest purchase is a long lost and long sought after rare pressing from one of the first ever bands to dabble with Black Metal.
What Jez doesn't know is that the album contains lyrics that will invoke a demon if played backwards. A succubus whose sole purpose is to entrap mortal men and drain them for sustenance via carnal coupling. Will Jez survive? And what will be left of him?
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 7, 2020
Jez didn’t expect the album to actually bring a succubus to him, he certainly didn’t expect her to be something more than a creature of lust and sex. Most of all, he didn’t expect what she wanted from him and how much he wanted the same.
The work is a very short, what I call a pamphlet, piece of erotica which focuses on the summoning of a succubus and all of the fun and delight she has with the main character before the story comes to a close. It’s an interesting read, the writing tells a story that offers quite a lot more than what happens in the story, but that’s really because of how short it is.
The succubus of the work, who is never named, is delicious in her nature, the tease she is, and how she plays with Jaz to get what she wants from his. She’s not exactly evil, more focused on getting a chance to feed from him at first before the story takes a turn that I think works really well here.
It’s a lot of fun, but so dearly short and that’s the problem. It feels very much like the start of a larger novel and that thought really appeals to me. The erotica might be over the top, the story a bit rough around the edges, but there’s something here that just was fun.
Three out of five pitchforks.
Quite a surprising story, the main character was interesting, the story was a lot more than I expected in spite of the erotica being a little on the porn side of things. It really did need to be expanded more, just to learn more about the succubus herself if nothing else however.
