Plot Summary

Even if Harper had realized demons are real, they never would've anticipated meeting one at a stuffy business conference. Now they're face-to-face with a flustered succubus, who says her name is Tria and wants to know why Harper can see her true form. Posed with such a quandary, what's an asexual enby to do?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on September 6, 2018

Sometimes the universe works in mysterious ways. It brings unexpected meetings that can lead to something wonderful. Sometimes that’s an encounter between a newly arrived succubus on Earth and someone they cannot quite figure out. But that confusion goes in both directions and can make the most wonderful things happen.

The work is a wonderfully told story of an encounter which takes the main characters in some amazingly reflective directions. It’s not erotica, to be clear, it’s something closer to young love’s first encounter, the hesitation that comes, the complexity of trying to find the right words and seeing where that all goes. It’s so very emotional, the narrative has tremendous emotion and it just feels right for both characters in what happens.

While it is dearly short, and I do wish there was more story told, what is created comes out perfectly. The awkwardness of both characters, the heartfelt touches along the way, the exploration of who they are and then to come to the close of the story in a way that makes everything perfect was more than I expected.

Tria, the succubus of the work is just amazingly well written. She’s such a lost thing when she realizes that Harper can see her truly and that just disarms her completely. What comes from that is her real self, the one hidden away. In finding Harper, she’s unsure of what comes next, but even so, she wants to try as much as Harper does. I’m especially delighted that she isn’t evil, isn’t stereotypical and feels more like my idea of succubi as a whole. I that, she captivated me as much as Harper did by far.

Four and a half out of five pitchforks.

I so dearly would love to see what happened next. Not to learn where Tria came from, not to see them and Harper together in an erotic way. Just to see what happens next, their relationship grow and then to see where that takes them both. It’s just such a fascinating story with such promise and such wonderful characters that it feels like a shame if their story closes here. But I expect it does, and even so, I couldn’t be happier for finding this work and being captivated.
