Sometimes being young and foolish can lead to only one thing. Being the fool to summon a succubus can never be the best of things to do when one is the fool.

The work is a very short, what I call a pamphlet story about the main character’s desires and frustrations which take him to make a really poor choice that has even poorer results. It’s less an erotic story than it is a story of a soul being foolish and taken for a fool overall.

While there is a succubus in this work, she is never named, she appears in the last page or two, and then the story comes to a close. Given her purpose, and how the story ends, really any sort of supernatural being could have taken her place and the story would have been about the same. She is a whisper, a thought, a moment and not much else. It can be said she is evil, or the magic is, or what happens at the end of the story is, but that doesn’t make her interesting as a whole.

Two out of five pitchforks.

There is so very little in the way of this being a succubus story that overall it’s really more of a story with a succubus on the edges to tease the reader before she appears and then the story closes. I expected more from this work, it’s a shame that didn’t happen here.

Plot Summary

She wasn’t like most women. Golden skin. A tail. And yet, she was stunning. She was driving me wild for her. Getting in this cave was my last mistake. I was in her lair. Her eyes were set on me. I was her only objective. When she got close enough, I could see she was dripping. She wanted me. Her skin was so smooth. Unbelievably smooth. And she knew all those things. She was using them to tame my wild mind…

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on May 12, 2020
