Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on August 19, 2012

The first thing I have to say is that there is some incest in this story. It happens at the end of the work, and it’s not all that much, but it is there. Setting that aside, the concept isn’t a bad one, the coming of age of a Succubus, but the problem for me comes in the lack of detail.

We never really know what Delilah looks like when she becomes a Succubus, save that wings appear on her and she looks vaguely devil-like and her eyes change. But otherwise there isn’t much said about that. Oh the author says she has a “sex kitten body” and tells us about that. Yes, we see her finding her powers for the first time and what she does with it, which is a hot little scene, but otherwise? Not so much I thought.

Very little background on Delilah’s mother, which is a shame, I think she could be interesting. Nothing on her “real” incubus father either, her step father you learn more about him than any other character in the work, which I understand for motivations and so on.

The writing is good, no spelling mistakes or obvious errors, but I have to wonder if the author had a good idea of Delilah’s personality when they started writing as she seemed to go through a large change as the climax of the story came and went.

Of course, this story is a hot flash, meaning that there is little character development and what little there is comes as a need to get to the sex scenes above all else.

Overall, the story isn’t a bad one, I did like most of it, but here’s the thing. I can’t justify the $2.99 I paid for it when I compare it to other, longer, works that ask for the same amount.

As such, I can give this work two pitchforks out of five.

I can see it being a 99 cent work at the most.

When the story came to the finish, I thought I had a good idea of where the next story could go, but when I read it, I have to say that I just became more disappointed in it.
