Plot Summary

With Miles's encouragement, Melody, had accepted the physical changes wrought by ingesting monster fruit. But now, it was time to help her through everything else. In the wake of the attack on Point City by Daeva the military had devised a plan to insert Melody into Daeva's stronghold. To gain entry, Melody would have to use her new looks and put her best villain act on. Miles was always there to help his ladies when they needed it, including assisting Melody in this nebulous project. But fresh troubles cropped up for Miles, at the Bureau of Superheroes, as Beatrix looked him and files he'd had her delete from her computer, and she turned to their incendiary boss, Kim, for help. Was Miles's secret on the line, or would he manage to fly under the radar of these two super-powered ladies? Either way, Miles could not allow anything to stand in the way of his plan.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 11, 2022

No good deed goes unpunished and no bad deed done ever quite goes away. Miles seems to be getting all he wants, but there are others that want more from him, or get a piece of him. A woman scorned is a problem, but a woman in love is far more deadly.

The series continues with plans afoot all around Miles. Some are his own, but many more are that of those that desire him, are with him, or want to be. It’s a complex weave of threads that comes to a climax in more ways than one. At the core however, this remains a harem story and overall that seems to be really getting out of hand.

Miles is very much the light that draws moths to it, and as such there’s an unending collection of female supervillians, and heroes, that try to get into his good graces. Overall that’s becoming a problem in the storytelling because there are just so many of them getting close to him and his secret really can’t remain one with so many involved and in one case, doesn’t.

The erotica didn’t have the heat it needed, mainly in that there were so many scenes of it. Overall it became expected in his reactions and what happens in the scenes themselves. It might have been better to focus on one specific relationship above all others than to keep flipping between them all.

That brings me back to Stella, the succubus-like character of the series. There’s one part of the work in which she shines, the story is telling and what comes out of it offers something for the future. There’s even a few points overall where her personality comes out and there’s a little bit of character development. The problem is that there’s not enough of that.

Of all of the characters, Stella feels like the one that has remained pretty much as she was at the beginning. There’s a child like feel to her, an innocence that I think is still adorable. But with all of the others around Miles, and how Stella really is the character that made the story work in the beginning, she’s being set aside too much.

Stella just feels very much under-appreciated save for one chapter where she’s the focus of Mile’s attentions. The problem is all of the characters around Miles and all of the new ones that are added on to tell this story. It would be interesting for Stella to mature as much as the rest of the harem has, if for no other reason that to show she’s more than what others think she is.

The story moves in some directions that offer something for the future. They might all tie together or keep going on their own paths. Whichever it is, at some point the story needs to step back from the harem theme, away from the random “evil” moments and return to a story where Miles sorts himself out, finds what he’s looking for and discovers that you don’t have to have everything.

Three out of five pitchforks.

It felt like the fun that was present in the series is ebbing away. Now, that’s part of the story telling and the development of the characters of course. But there’s too much harem themes and Stella really seems have been overlooked for the most part. At some point the story needs to focus on Stella and transform her character like so many others have been. If not, then really there’s not a lot here that I’ll find interesting and that’s a shame.
