Things aren’t all pleasant. Monsters often attack New Haven and Daeva shows him the truth about titans and the future that they are moving towards.
Joining Daeva’s pantheon of god like supers, he takes on the task of defending New Haven, discovering that it and Point City have a shared a dangerous enemy. Because the Fenris Wolf, a city killer titan, isn’t something he can just paste.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 21, 2024
There is always a point at which something threatens what you have built. It seeks to find your weakness and use that against you. The thing is, coming to understand what that is, and knowing the answer is with you, wouldn’t you do anything to protect them and not yourself?
The series moves onwards towards the inevitable climax of the storm that has been gathering throughout. There’s a sharper edge to the storytelling, Miles is a bit broader character-wise and that was refreshing. Similarly the harem around him is shifting and changing, the characters having more depth, if still utterly smitten by him. The harem aspects of the series are very strongly brought to the fore, bordering at times at being well over the tp and that was a shame. It’s the mystery of what’s behind things that kept my interest for the most part as that had some purpose to it.
Much like the prior work, the erotica lacked heat. Much of that was the very short flashes of heat that came from one character, then another, then still another and so on. It’s the problem with harem stories, there are too many characters to have their moment and all of them suffer from that fact.
Stella, who is the sort-of succubus of the series, was both a lot of fun and so very serious at times. She gets the chance to grow, to express her nature and that’s a lot of fun. There’s still something about her personality that just works well, mostly in her mixed innocence and silliness. She’s very protective as well, and that seemed to become more of who she is. The harem needs someone to lead and darn it if she isn’t going to get everyone in line. It’s that force of her personality that made me smile and made her appearances just a delight when they happened.
Still, everything comes back to the main plot, Miles coming to terms with himself, protecting that which is his. There’s also the thread of him drawing the lost to him and helping them to find themselves once more. Sort of a bringer of light in a world of darkness, which is interesting. At times however there’s too much going on, too many characters stepping on each other and it feels too rushed too often.
Three out of five pitchforks.
This isn’t much of a succubus story of course, that’s been true from the first work. I find harem stories get to a point where there’s too much going on at the expense of the characters themselves. This work falls into that issue for me, though there is a good reason as so many pieces needed to be placed and things set into motion. I hope the conclusion of the series brings something to make Stella’s journey have purpose and meaning. If not, then it’s going to end on a flat note for me.
