Plot Summary

I had a type: blonde, big boobs, and blue eyes. Meeza wasn’t anywhere near my type: dark hair, thin, and athletic body. I took her home anyway. It was the worst—and best—decision I had ever made. It wasn’t that she cast a spell over me. She was just a one-night stand. But everything changed for me after that. Everything and everyone.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on November 5, 2021

Some souls are, at their core, evil things without the help of demons. They take from others, consume them, and once done, leave them behind. But encountering a succubus, and thinking one can do the same is a mistake. The only thing worse than a woman scorned is a succubus.

The work is mainly focused on the sexual antics of the main character as they bed just about every woman they encounter. The scenes tend to have some heat, but overall it’s more adult film levels of erotica, which is a shame. Where things become interesting is after they encounter Meeza, the succubus of the work and she begins to haunt him.

Meeza is, overall, a rather stereotypical succubus. She’s mainly focused on sex and being in control. Beyond that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of character development. As part of the story, she makes an appearance at the beginning and then drops off the plot for the rest. She odes make a couple of short dream appearances when her true nature is revealed, but that’s about all.

The story reads somewhat unevenly and one more editing pass to make the dialogue sound better would be a good idea. It seems to be too focused on the main character’s sexual antics and I found myself less interested as things went until Meeza reappeared. It reads like the main character isn’t supposed to be liked, which isn’t hard to see. That said, many of the other characters read the same way. I’m not sure that works well, but it certainly makes for a different sort of read.

Three out of five pitchforks.

There really isn’t much of Meeza being a succubus overall. She is part of the story, but she doesn’t exactly drive it onward. The focus isn’t on her, at least as yet. Hopefully the next book will push further into who she is and what she wants. It’s a good start, but I’m hoping for more.
