Plot Summary

Even the Pools of Purity could not undo Elyst’s transformation into a succubus, nor alleviate her heightened libido. Infernal magic has both blessed and cursed her, but her noble spirit endures. She resolves to seek out the Scarlet Cult, an order of demons more amicable to mortals, and throw herself at the feet of their queen.

Ajana’s might is astounding, and her crimson tower looms high and magnificent. A host of demons call her their matriarch but she has time enough to welcome Elyst into her service. Only recently changed, Elyst is still finding out what it means to be a demoness of lust and seduction. The immortal queen wastes no time in awakening her to the benefits.

In splendor on her throne, she is a crimson giantess that entices with her every feature. Elyst can’t help but regard her like a goddess, and the fact that she conducts herself with virtue, at least in non-sexual matters, makes it all the easier to fall on her knees and worship. This place of servitude may be just what she needs to be fulfilled. At least, she’s certain to be filled in some way.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 4, 2023

Elyst’s quest for relief for her newfound succubus nature has driven her in an unexpected direction. If light cannot help with the needs driving her, then perhaps those with similar desires are the solution. But with need comes new desires as a succubus for which Elyst isn’t prepared for. Her future might be tied to both the virture she holds and the relief submitting to her succubi sisters. Assuming Elyst doesn’t lose herself within the lusts she finds herself surrounded by.

The work continues Elyst’s story some time after the events of the prior work. She has been on a quest to deal with her succubus transformation, which seems to have not resulted in a solution. The events of this work take Elyst into the succubi plain, where she discovers more of her kind and the queen Ajana. While the work does mainly focus on Ajana and Elyst becoming intimate there’s the beginning of some interesting world building.

It’s not really detailed however, much is mentioned in passing as Elyst travels to see the queen. Still there’s just enough told that offers some unique things to think about before Elyst is given her audience with Ajana.

Ajana, the succubus queen, is a futa and so the erotica focuses on that aspect overall. There’s lovely heat in the telling, and while that part of the work is well done and allows for Elyst’s character development, there’s another aspect that I thought was an undercurrent that was more so.

Elyst’s succubus nature has been driving her and in this work she shifts fully into her succubus nature mentally. It’s not quite Elyst being mind-controlled, but there’s a clear shift in her thinking that’s a lot sharper and soul changing than what happened in the first work.

The story leaves Ajana’s true nature a bit murky, there’s a sense of her being sort of evil, if certainly having a naughty nature. Tied to that is her presence and power that Elyst is attached to. It’s that part of how things develop that makes me wonder about Elyst’s future. She aligns herself with good, but her nature as a succubus is somewhat darker. I’d hope that her nature doesn’t completely overcome who she is, she’s far more interesting fighting her nature than embracing it overall.

I think that’s what’s missing here, that Elyst suddenly stops resisting and falls to Ajana and I would have liked a slower unfolding of that aspect. Elyst is a succubus, there’s no question of that. but the idea of her doing good as she wants to at the beginning of this work shouldn’t be tossed aside for the sake of the erotica and I don’t think it will be.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

I wish there had been a lot more world building around Ajana. she is a succubus queen after all. Beyond that, the shift in Elyst’s thinking seems to suggest that she’s turning towards being fully a succubus which then brings the question of being evil or not. There’s a lot of possibilities to explore in that. Hopefully a third work will appear which might explore Elyst’s changes and perhaps the Elyst that was, will not be the Elyst she has become.
