If it’s not one problem, there’s going to be another it seems for Miles. Saving the city was supposed to be a one-time deal but finding that saving a group of wayward villainesses from themselves is a full-time job is the real surprise. Still, something good has come out of that, the problem is that his past is lurking and that might not be the biggest of his problems.
The work continues almost immediately from the prior story with a slight side story that honestly, I didn’t really enjoy very much. Miles does have some darker aspects within him, but they weren’t as present as they were in the opening of this work. That said, once the mysteries begin, his nemesis appears, and the threats start to develop, he’s more like the character in the first book and that worked better for me.
The erotica is somewhat a slow burn that feels a bit tepid over the course of the story. Part of that I think comes from all of the villainesses that are part of his life and how there needs to be a fair bit of time spent with each over the story. At times there’s a sense of too many characters, both main and supporting, that come and go. Focusing on Miles helping those he cares about is a major plot on its own and adding in the several subplots that threaten the city around him started to seem like padding and I didn’t really enjoy that.
Stella, who thinks of herself as Miles’ succubus, started to break out of her shell more. She’s far more than just part of Miles’ harem and it’s the moments when she grows as a character and how that helps the others around her that I really enjoyed. Where she’s going to wind up is a bit of a mystery, but I’d hope that she comes to realize that she’s more than she thinks she is.
The series is going in some interesting directions, and I hope that continues. Stella’s perhaps not really a succubus, though I rather adore her thoughts and where things are taking her. It would be nice for the story to step back from the end of the world issues a bit and focus more on the characters defining themselves and coming to terms with themselves.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
It’s still a fun read and that’s a positive thing, the question is whether the series will give some really needed development to all of the characters or not. There’s a lot of stories untold about them and that really is what interests me.

Plot Summary
Miles has enough power to take down even a titan, but is that enough to prepare him for what’s coming? His new job as the deputy director is at odds with his desire to start using his powers to make a greater difference. He has to balance his secret while going above and beyond his role at the Bureau of Superheroes. When his villain days come back to haunt him in the form of his old mentor, Miles is forced to reconcile his past and present life, all while taking on a new and growing threat in Point City. With his villain turned superhero team of women behind him, Miles must find a way to save the city and the other villains who still have a chance at being heros.
Book Review
