Plot Summary
Tiger shifter, Tiana Arias, has one job for the week. Behave. She can’t ruin her sister’s destination wedding at Hellscape Holidays Resort. They have fancy warlock in-laws to impress. Too bad Tiana isn’t known for behaving. Starting a feud with the groom’s brother two minutes into the trip was not a good idea. Making out with him wasn’t any better …
Warlock Liam Morton wants his brother’s wedding to be perfect. Forget judgmental parents and old family wounds. Liam is set on protecting his brother as he has always done. But when he spots Tiana Arias, all bets are off. Never has Liam’s duty been so hard to fulfill.
When the wedding plans collapse, it’s up to Tiana and Liam to save the day. The pair fight their attraction for the sake of their families. But when Lou and Portia play matchmaker, love checks into the resort. When the devil is your matchmaker, what can go wrong?

No wedding goes exactly as one might hope. Families tug at one another, emotions run high, and there’s always a chance that the unexpected might happen. Tiana expects her older sister to be a pain, she can see both sets of parents aren’t getting along. But there’s something else happening which she wasn’t prepared for. The groom’s brother, Liam, has her attention. As for Liam, he’s smitten by the tigeress, but can he overcome his past, his parents, and find what he never expected would be.
The work follows an undetermined amount of time from the prior work in the series, there being some vague references made to those events by Portia and Lou before the story swings to the main characters and the events unfold. The story is a bit more complex through the complications of families and lovers which provide some really cute moments, but also there are some really telling points at which both main characters come to confront their past and what that has done to their present and, might be, futures.
Both main characters have strong personalities and it takes quite a lot of effort for them both to get past their internal struggles and finally come to a point where they can admit to themselves, and each other, the passion they share. The erotic heat, when it appears, is deliciously sensual and I enjoyed that. It’s also the point where both Liam and Tiana are the most fun as they tease and dance around each other before the close of the work and they become fully entangled together.
Unlike the balance of the series so far, there’s more focus on the effects both Liam and Tiana deal with through the pressure of their families. Once they find something to focus on together, that’s when the story seemed to find it’s passion, the characters became more alive and the story flowed well.
However, there is one point in this work that bothered me, and it’s for the same reasons as the prior work. There’s a climatic moment which just felt wrong and forced. Liam and Tiana are drawn into a echo of the past and that passes far too quickly and doesn’t feel satisfying. The events prior work well, the events afterwards try to explain the why and how, but it just feels wrong with the rest of the story. There was enough conflict and messes to deal with around the wedding and adding this event to the story didn’t sit well.
Of course Portia wasn’t the focus of this work and while she did appear, it seemed a bit less than the last work. The fifth work seems to be about more devilish themes, so perhaps she’ll have more of a presence. That aside, the story is very much a page turner, the characters are so very complex and the tale was well told. If there’s one thing that bothers me, it is the moment of conflict that felt forced into the story for really no good reason. It could be removed entirely and the overall story wouldn’t change. Perhaps that’s something that needs to be worked on for the next book.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
This isn’t a succubus story by any means, nor is it really meant to be. It’s a delightful love story with lots of fun moments and characters that tell their story really well. The series continues to be a delight, I just really would like to know more about Portia, her past, and if, perhaps, she might find her own love.
