Plot Summary

In a letter to her lover, Emily Townsend reveals that the steamy novel she published anonymously nineteen years before was actually based on her own experiences at the Castle of the Hidden Grotto. The sheltered young heiress had gone there in search of her titled English fiancé, only to find him engaging in an appallingly lewd act during a hedonistic house party. Ridiculing her small-mindedness, the cad threatens to ruin her socially if she ends the engagement, thereby depriving him of the $2 million he's due to receive upon their marriage. Emily is left devastated, her self-worth in shambles, until Inigo awakens her sexually and liberates her from stifling conventionality by treating her to an amatory education.
