Plot Summary

Caroline Keating, an unworldly young woman in despair over being ruined and impoverished, is destined for a public madhouse until the damaged and dissolute Viscount Rexton suggests an alternative: one week of unquestioning sexual servitude to an aristocratic master, in exchange for which she will be handsomely recompensed and able to start a new life. After buying Caroline himself to save her from a brutal sadist, Rexton forces her to submit to bondage and rough sex in the hope of keeping her at an emotional distance so as not to repeat the mistakes of his tragic past.
